la tua casa sul mare   -  dein haus am meer    "il Quartiere"

Known as "Il Quartiere", in memory of the presence of a military headquarters for coastal navigation, this historic house in POMONTE was the subject of a skilful renovation in 2016 and is presented in a completely new guise, well furnished and equipped with fine finishes.

"Il Quartiere" was born as a place where the goods that the villagers used to exchange were stored. Small merchant ships with large cloth sails came almost ashore and brought goods from the mainland: food, cloth, leather, tools. Thus began the history of the DISTRICT.

Until the 1960s, life in Pomonte was that of simple winemakers and granite workers. There was still no road to this remote part of Elba. People came on foot, on donkey's back, or by ship. The sea route was easier than the arduous land route.

And so this little house on the beach was of great importance to the people of Pomonte, because this was where trading took place. The arriving ships brought not only goods, but also news from the “the mainland”. This was also the headquarters of the French soldiers under Napoleon.

The house, steeped in history, was extended over time, but its floor plan remained the same. It become old and it need renovation.

Elba belongs to the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago (since 1996) and all buildings on the island - especially those steeped in history - have been listed since then. The conditions are strict. The monument protection authority in Pisa is very strict.

For years the current owners had to wait for the permits for the renovation, but finally in 2016 they got it. The approved plans could be implemented and 5 brand new, beautiful holiday apartments were created, which were converted and furnished with style. They are tailored for families of 2 to 3 or 4 to 7 people.

The apartments were named after the 4 neighboring islands of Elba, which all belong to the Tuscan Archipelago: MONTECRISTO, GIGLIO, CAPRAIA and PIANOSA. All islands can be seen with good weather conditions.

In front of the Beach House there is the "wreck beach". From here you can snorkel to the sunken ship and immerse yourself in a fantastic world.
